Console quickstart

From an empty account to a rendered, shared chart in one pass.

This walkthrough takes you from a fresh account to a rendered and shared chart artifact.

1. Connect a data source

Open Connections and add one of the supported providers:

  • Google Sheets or Google Drive (CSV/JSON files) — authorized through the Google consent screen.
  • An HTTPS JSON endpoint.
  • A PostgreSQL database with TLS.

Each connection selects exactly the resources you expose — a spreadsheet, a file, or an allowed relation. Credentials are encrypted at rest and are never returned to the browser after submission. See connections.

2. Capture a dataset

From the connection's resources, capture the data into a dataset. A dataset owns immutable definitions and evaluated versions, so a chart can pin itself to the exact data it was authored against. See datasets.

3. Create a chart

Open Artifacts, create a chart, and:

  1. Pick a chart family (bar, line, pie, scatter, and more).
  2. Map dataset fields to visual channels (x, y, color, size, ...).
  3. Style it — titles, palette, legend placement.
  4. Bind it live to the dataset, or to a frozen snapshot revision.

The specification is validated before anything renders; invalid field types or mappings are rejected with specific errors. See chart specs.

4. Export and share

Export the chart as PNG, SVG, snapshot JSON, or CSV — either from fresh data or from the capture you are looking at. Then create a share: an expiring, revocable link to a frozen snapshot. Sharing media is explicit; source access and remixing stay off unless you enable them. See artifacts and exports.
