Getting Started
Welcome
What the Xentropy platform is and how the pieces fit together.
Xentropy turns data and ideas into finished visual artifacts. You connect a data source, author a declarative specification, and the platform renders, versions, and distributes the result.
The two artifact kinds
| Kind | What it is | Rendered as |
|---|---|---|
| Chart | A validated, declarative chart specification bound to a dataset | Interactive views, PNG, SVG, JSON, CSV |
| Motion | A scene graph with animated properties on a timeline | PNG frames, MP4 video |
Both kinds share the same lifecycle: every accepted change creates an immutable revision, renders are asynchronous jobs, and distribution happens through shares and publications with explicit consent.
Data in, visuals out
- Connect a source — Google Sheets, Google Drive, an HTTPS JSON endpoint, or a TLS PostgreSQL database — from the connections screen.
- Capture it into a dataset with evaluated versions.
- Author a chart or motion project against that data.
- Export and share the result.
Agents are first-class
Every operation available in the console is available to programs through scoped credentials and MCP servers, with the same ownership checks and revision rules as the editor. See agents.
