Xentropy is designed around zero filing — you never have to organize anything. But if you want structure, folders are available as an optional tool.
Core principle: You never need to file anything. Folders exist for users who want them, but the default path works without them.
#
Folders are AI-suggested, user-confirmed. When you capture a note, the AI analyzes its content and suggests a folder. You can:
- Accept the suggestion — the note is filed automatically
- Ignore it — the note stays unfiled (zero filing)
- Choose a different folder — move it anywhere you like
- Create a new folder — folders are user-created and fully customizable
No folder means no filing decisions at capture time. The suggestion appears after capture — you deal with organization when it's convenient, not when the thought is fresh.
#
| Feature | Description | |---------|-------------| | AI suggestions | Automatically recommends a folder based on content | | Format instructions | Each folder can have custom format rules for AI structuring | | Nested folders | Create sub-folders for deeper organization | | Drag-and-drop | Move notes between folders (mobile: swipe actions) | | Folder counts | See how many notes are in each folder |
#
Each folder can carry format instructions — rules that tell the AI how to structure notes filed there.
Example — a Health folder might have:
Format each note as: symptom / action / follow-up date
When a note is filed to Health, the AI reformats it to match. This turns freeform capture into structured, queryable logs — a health log, a project journal, a reading list.
Format instructions are optional. Most folders work fine without them.
